Birth of The Cool
George Square Piccolo
George Square, Edinburgh
If “Kind Of Blue” is the best selling jazz album of all time, then “Birth of The Cool” is where it all started. Miles Davis’ stellar nine-piece band used the mellow, lush, atmospheric arrangements of Gerry Mulligan and Gil Evans to change the direction of jazz. Sophistication in surround sound for the jazz improviser. Richard Ingham re-creates the music with an all star band including Tom McNiven, and Helena Kay.
